Cat asks a song question II

Hi everyone! Today’s post is best viewed on a desktop or tablet – actually all of my posts seem to render better on these platforms. However, no worries if you are reading on your smart phone. 🙂

Yesterday I posted 2 songs and a few of you gave feedback. Thank you! The 3 people that gave feedback liked Skynyrd better. I was a bit surprised. Don’t get me wrong I love them but Zeppelin is one of my favorite bands of all time! Personally I think Stairway has to be in the top 3 rock and roll songs ever. But that is just me.

With that in mind I am posting 2 more songs today. Today I wanted to get your feedback again. These songs are both classics just like the songs I posted yesterday. However, over the years I think the first one has gained more and more respect. The 2nd song is just classic 70’s rock. Which one is better to you and why? I will post the lyrics also.

I was a little too tall, could’ve used a few pounds
Tight pants points hardly renown
She was a black-haired beauty with big dark eyes
And points all her own sitting way up high
Way up firm and high

Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy

Out in the back seat of my sixty Chevy
Workin’ on mysteries without any clues
Workin’ on our night moves
Trying’ to make some front page drive-in news
Workin’ on our night moves
In the summertime
In the sweet summertime

We weren’t in love, oh no, far from it
We weren’t searching for some pie in the sky summit
We were just young and restless and bored
Living by the sword
And we’d steal away every chance we could
To the backroom, the alley, the trusty woods
I used her she used me, but neither one cared
We were getting our share

Workin’ on our night moves
Trying to lose the awkward teenage blues
Workin’ on out night moves
And it was summertime
Sweet summertime, summertime

And oh, the wonder
Felt the lightning
Yeah, and we waited on the thunder
Waited on the thunder

I woke last night to the sound of thunder
How far-off, I sat and wondered
Started humming a song from nineteen-sixty-two
Ain’t it funny how the night moves?
When you just don’t seem to have as much to lose
Strange how the night moves
With autumn closing in

Hmm, night moves
(Night moves) night moves
(Night moves) yeah
(Night moves) night moves
(Night moves) I remember the night moves
(Night moves) ain’t it funny how you remember?
(Night moves) funny how you remember
(Night moves) I remember, I remember, I remember, I remember
(Night moves) oh
(Night moves) move away
(Night moves) we’re gonna practice, love
(Night moves) night moves
(Night moves) oh, I remember
(Night moves) yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember
(Night moves) oh, I remember
(Night moves) god, I remember
(Night moves) lord, I remember

Oh, woman, oh, yeah, yeah, uh-huh, I remember, I remember

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night

There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
‘this could be heaven or this could be hell’
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say…

Welcome to the hotel california
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the hotel california
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is tiffany-twisted, she got the mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the captain,
‘please bring me my wine’
He said, ‘we haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine’
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say…

Welcome to the hotel california
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin’ it up at the hotel california
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said ‘we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’
And in the master’s chambers,
They gathered for the feast
The stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can’t kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
‘relax,’ said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
But you can never leave!

So… which song do you like better? Leave a comment! I gotta go but I wish you a safe and wonderful New Year. Make 2020 the best year ever!

Love, Olive

Cat recommends Amazon products (to keep blog going) :-(

Hi Everyone. How have you been? I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I had a great Christmas. I got to play in some of the wrapping paper and some of the trash. Here I am playing with a box and wrapping paper. I was happy to be around my humans also. 🙂 Oh I almost forgot, I have a new cat friend. His name is Moses. If you are on a computer you can see him just to the right of the screen. If you are on a mobile device like a phone he may appear wayyyyyyy at the bottom under the heading “OLIVE’S FRIENDS!” I have a few friends who have passed along pictures of their cats so please send them to me!

This was awesome!

Gang… Can I be real for a minute? I am struggling right now to keep the blog going. I don’t know how long I can keep going if I can’t pay the bills. If I don’t get support from readers, I will be able to continue my blog.

It takes some money to get the blog up and running and to get the word out. I have tried to reach people via Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Twitter, Facebook pages and a Facebook group. Unfortunately, I seem to only get around 20 views per post. I am very encouraged that I have have readers from over 25 countries in the world. I think that is amazing.

So I am a bit discouraged. I am not sure if I don’t appeal to people or if my message just does not resonate. Whatever the case, I am my costs are mounting and soon I may have to stop. Right now I am appealing to you!

Would you be willing to do the following?

I know a lot of you shop online. I am not asking you to click on the Amazon links but if you are curious take a peak! To support my page I have chosen to promote Amazon products. When a reader clicks on the Amazon link and purchases something I get a small commission.

To be clear – you do not have to purchase what is on the link, however if you choose to click on the Amazon ad and then decide to purchase any random thing I would get a small commission. This works out to pennies on the dollar and keeps the blog going. So I really need your help! If you are going to shop on Amazon anyway and you like the blog, consider my Amazon ads, then do your purchases. This will keep the blog alive!

My mission with this blog is to make humans smile. I want to share joy with people around the world. I don’t know about you, but I think the world can be very negative. I want people to see something positive even if it is just for a few minutes while you read a post. I want people to realize they are loved and appreciated. I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks for considering supporting me!

Love Olive

Cat gives Christmas advice

Hi Gang! Today I wanted cover two topics.  First, I wanted to start with a video I found on the Internet.  Second, I want to cover something that is hard for many people this time of year. With that said, check out this cool video and then come back to read the rest of this post.

What did you think of the video? I love how there are so many creative ideas for problems. Speaking of problems did you know that many people struggle this time of year? It is sad because most people wonderful memories of a Christmas that was wonderful or even magical at some point in their lives. However, people can struggle with Christmas or the holidays for a number of reasons. Here are just a few examples:

  • Loss – perhaps the loss of a loved one, dear friend, or even a job
  • Being lonely or just sad
  • Sickness
  • Some type of financial difficulty
  • Stress, Anxiety, Worry, Anger
  • The list goes on and on

All humans struggle on some level. Holidays can trigger discouragement for many people. I have a challenge for you. Would you consider encouraging another person? When you go about your normal day, think about one person in your life who you think could be struggling. Take action by demonstrating genuine interest in that person. Here are some ideas to get you started.

  • Start a conversation with someone asking a few questions and listen intently
  • Let this person know you care them
  • Ask this person how you can help
  • Tell this person something that makes you admire them. Be specific
  • Give encouraging words verbally and on paper – a card is nice 🙂
  • Spend time with this person. Spending time with someone can really help someone

If you are struggling this holiday season know that you are loved. You have a purpose. Despite painful circumstances… you are alive and you do have hope. Feelings are just feelings, but here is an unchanging truth. God loves you more than you can fathom. He created you for a purpose and you can talk to Him anytime you want. You see Christmas is about God loving you the greatest gift in human history: Himself. He made a path to for us to be with Him thru his Son Jesus if we just believe. Consider the following.

If you have any questions or concerns sent me a comment!

So if you know of someone who is struggling this holiday season or if you are hurting know many people want to help you. God loves you and so do I.

A Cat’s Christmas Story

Have you have watched the movie called A Christmas Story?  I have and I think it is awesome. One of my owners loved a particular lamp so much it was purchased for the home. Now I usually sit under the Christmas tree to take cover from the little humans in the home. Last nite I was feeling brave. I decided to sit under the leg lamp – for a few minutes. It was nice until I was picked up and moved to another room by a little human. Eventually, I got away and when the little ones went to bed I sat on the lap of the older human for a bit. Now I am not much of a lap cat, but I love to be near my humans.

I like the leg lamp. What do you think? Would you get this light for your home? “A Christmas Story” is a fun movie especially this time of year. You can find out more about this funny movie here.

You know I always want my readers to smile. I hope you are today! Take some time to go through some of my previous posts! Also consider subscribing to my blog. It is really my desire to make humans smile and feel good.

With Love,

Cats make us smile!

Do you laugh and smile enough?  Is there such a thing as having too much laughter in life?  Sadly, many humans don’t laugh very often.  Heck some humans rarely even smile.  My blog is all encouraging humans to be thankful, smile, and laugh.  A few years ago I came across a brilliant guy who has a wonderful website.  He posts many videos online and I wanted to share one today.  I hope this video makes you smile!

What did you think?  I like Prince Michael because he is a silly cat.  I would love to meet him one day.  My favorite part of the video is when he gets into the soccer game and is the goalie.  I think he has some work to do!

Well Gang, I need to get going. I hope you have a wonderful day. I also want to thank all the readers from all around the world who have visited my blog. I am so thankful. Enjoy your day and remember the world (if it is flat or round) needs more laughter. So lighten up, try not to take things to serious, and do your best to be happy!

Have you ever been discouraged?  Have you ever thought why am I discouraged?  I think all humans get discouraged.  Heck as a cat I do.  For me discouragement looks very different from humans.  I get frustrated when I can’t capture a bug, or a smaller human in my family pulls my tail.  I have heard my humans talk about how they get discouraged.  Discouragement can appear in many forms.

  • Loss
  • Difficulty
  • Frustration
  • Negativity
  • Stress/Anxiety
  • & the list goes on and on

I want my readers to understand that unfortunately this is the world we live in.  It does not mean humans have to live in a state of perpetual discouragement.  People can make choices to be encouragers despite their circumstances.  Practically speaking things like the following almost always help humans.

  • Serving others
  • Talk to a trusted friend
  • Learn to say ‘no’ to unnecessary requests from others
  • Take time to meditate or pray
  • Get moving

Have you ever heard of a sine wave?  For our purposes I want you to see that sine waves go up and down just like your life will have ups and downs.  Sometimes it may seem like we don’t have very many ups and we may even have deeper downs or many more than others.

Maybe you have bought into the image portrayed in the media of the rich and beautiful who seem to have it all.  Even the rich, famous, and beautiful have ups and downs.  Now that you understand this is a natural part of life you need to understand circumstances that bring you down do not have to define you.  Sadly, many people live most of their lives in the bottom part of the sine wave shown above and just believe the lie this is how things are for me.  Friends this is not true!

You may be tempted to think I am at a low point in my personal life or job and then be discouraged.  Being discouraged would be natural, however I would argue you don’t have to live in discouragement.  You can change your thoughts about your situation and live with gratitude.  This will not be easy.  However you can make a choice to be thankful that you are alive and understand you have a purpose and have been fearfully and wonderfully made for a purpose in this life.

Along with that truth, you are loved!  Despite how you may feel you are loved by God.  I love you and likely many others love you.  Life is not easy for humans.  However, humans have the ability to do extraordinary things and well that is just awesome!  So if you are discouraged hang in there.  Find resources that can help you.  Your journey starts with a smile and well maybe a pet like me.  🙂  So hang in there!  Also if you sense another human is discourage – do something to help that person!!

With Love,
